Charge UP 55 Grants

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information is Charging UP 55 Youth Clubs islandwide! Grants of $30,000 each will be provided to a total of 55 youth clubs under the Charge UP Project. The grants are specifically for the implementation of youth and community development initiatives through youth clubs.

Applications open September 7, 2017 and close on September 30, 2017 at 11:59pm.

Getting the grant is easy! Just follow these steps:

  1. Record a video of no more than 3 minutes which tells us about your club, previous activities that the club has been engaged in, what your club intends to do with the Charge UP 55 Grant, and why your club should be selected.
  2. Upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, Vine or Instagram
  3. Copy your YouTube, Vimeo, Vine or Instagram URL
  4. Click here to visit the YouthJamaica facebook page
  5. Paste your video url in the field provided and complete the entry form

Applications will be accepted through video submissions. Each youth club can only submit one entry video.

Fifty-five youth clubs will each receive a grant of $30,000.00. Once your video has been submitted and approved, it will appear in the voting gallery on the YouthJamaica Facebook page.

You will need to share the page with your friends, and get them to vote for your video! Videos with the most votes will have a distinct advantage in receiving grants as voting accounts for 60% of your final score.

The other 40% will be determined by a group of judges, who will evaluate your video based on:

  • the extent to which the grant will alleviate a specific problem the club or community is facing
  • how convincing the video is that the club should be Charged UP
  • creativity and originality

Winners will be announced by October 7, 2017, with grants being awarded shortly thereafter.
