Shaqkeera Douglas

“I am Shaqkeera Douglas, an aspiring Attorney, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist guided by many philosophies, chief among them being, “Write your vision and make it plain on tablets, that those who see it may run.” (Habbakuk 2:2)

My parents, Ann-Marie Salmon and Michael Douglas have made many sacrifices that have inspired my burning desire to serve others. This desire followed through the Meadowbrook High School and has been carrying me through the University of the West Indies and has helped to guide my professional experiences. Currently, I am employed to Sagicor Jamaica Ltd. My beginnings were not extraordinary but, I always had a vision of where I want to end up and who I want to be. I am proud to bear witness to my present reality as it is not a reflection of my past but sees me transcending many boundaries.

I am extremely passionate about the arts specifically singing, dancing, acting and writing. I see these as avenues of expression that not only contribute to personal development but has the potential to inspire others. I am a part of several initiatives, serving in different roles, chiefly, Talk Up Yout and Shashamane Sunrise. I live by the principle that the key to becoming all that you can be and all you desire to be is to develop the SKILL of time management. The central link bringing together all that I do is the desire to see a better country. I believe that this better lies in the development of our young people, who are the leaders of today. Each platform that I have been blessed to serve on, I hold that as my ultimate mission.”
